House of the Dragon has many wigs: some great, some less so; a lot of them are silver, but not all.
Harry Collett (Jace Velaryon) pulled focus with his rug. He played Jaecerys Velaryon, Jace for short, the first-born son of Rhaenyra Targaryen and
Harwin Strong
Laenor Velaryon. Collett debuted as Jace in Episode 8, “The Lord of the Tides,” and his wig looked…fine, if perhaps a little…moppish.
Look, there have been better wigs in Westeros. Speaking to Adele James on the podcast In The Room, Collett explained how he came to be wearing that particular follicular aid:
"I went for a hair and makeup fitting, and I had short hair, short back and sides. It looked like I’d come straight from a Turkish barber, which I did. And they were like, ‘What are you doing? That’s not medieval hair.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, good point.’ No one told me, though. to be fair…I’d heard of Game of Thrones but I hadn’t even watched it at that point so I didn’t really know if it had certain hair requirements, you know what I mean? So they were like, ‘Right, we’re gonna have to go for the wig.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So they brought out this wig…And it was great, but I did think they were joking."
“It’s not really a look, is it?” Collett finished. Hey, different strokes.
Harry Collett may not need his House of the Dragon wig for season 2
HBO is currently filming the second season of House of the Dragon, where Collett will return as Jace. As you can see above, it looks like he’s been growing out his hair in the meantime, so perhaps he’ll be able to rock his natural locks this time around. Then again, maybe everyone’s grown too fond of the wig by this point.
We’ll find out for sure when House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.
