Beetlejuice 2 announces fall 2024 release date
By Daniel Roman
Someone, somewhere said the name Beetlejuice name three times, and now we all must pay the price!
More than 30 years after the original 1988 comedic horror movie, Beetlejuice is returning to movie theaters this fall. Producers have been trying to get a Beetlejuice sequel off the ground for literal decades, and it’s finally happening. Warner Bros. has announced that the official release date for Beetlejuice 2 is September 6, 2024.
Beetlejuice 2 will feature the return of original director Tim Burton, with a script by Wednesday scribes Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who worked with Burton on the Netflix series. It will see Michael Keaton back in the role of the titular ghoul Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter.
Very few details are known about Beetlejuice 2 as of right now beyond the release date. But considering how many legacy sequels and reboots we’ve seen in recent years, it’s not a huge surprise that its time has come. Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B is producing the Beetlejuice sequel.
As things stand, Beetlejuice 2 is set to begin filming on May 10. It’s unclear how the current WGA Hollywood writers’ strike could affect the production, but given that Warner Bros. decided to make this announcement about the release date it seems reasonable to expect that filming will go forward as planned. We’ll keep an eye out in case anything changes on that front.
