To this day, Game of Thrones fans debate the ending of HBO’s megahit fantasy show. How did you react when Daenerys Targaryen took flight on Drogon in “The Bells” and set fire to King’s Landing? Horrified? Excited? Entertained?
If you’re like a lot of fans, including me, you were confused, but we don’t need to get into that again. It was a memorable scene, and artist kalaninychus has given us an evocative new angle on it. Check our their artwork below:
A woman, a baby, and her dog sit on a hill and watch as Daenerys and Drogon set fire to the city. I like how kalaninychus depicts them as the main characters of the scene. I also like how we don’t see Daenerys, just Drogon; that’s consistent with how director Miguel Sapochnik photographed “The Bells.”
Stunning fan-art shows different perspective on Daenerys Targaryen’s destruction of King’s Landing
I don’t think the fanbase will ever agree on whether the ending was deserved or not. But it definitely fires the imagination.
We can expect more scenes of dragon-based destruction on House of the Dragon, HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel show. The second season of House of the Dragon is currently in production and is due out on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.
