At last month’s Star Wars Celebration, Disney and Lucasfilm announced a slew of exciting new projects set in the galaxy far far away, from a Mandalorian movie to a new film featuring Rey Skywalker. With so many projects in the works, might we see Mark Hamill return as Luke Skywalker sooner or later?

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hamill was asked about potentially making more cameo appearances, either as a Force ghost or with the aid of CGI to help make him look younger. Sadly, there’s nothing in the pipeline… yet. “No, I don’t have any expectations of that happening,” he said.

Mark Hamill last appeared as Luke in the finale of The Mandalorian season 2, where he invaded Moff Gideon’s ship, single-handedly saving Mando and Grogu. More recently, Luke Skywalker appeared in The Book Of Boba Fett, but Hamill was not involved at all, so he doesn’t need to be on set for any future projects.

Mark Hamill was “so emotional” after watching the Jedi Temple burn in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Filming The Last Jedi was a crazy emotional rollercoaster for Hamill, since it featured Luke Skywalker’s final moments. Tears flowed on the set.

Recalling the moment when he sits with R2 and watches the Jedi Temple burn, Hamill said he was taking in every second.

"Well, the whole thing was emotional, because when I read [Episode] VIII, I knew it was over. So I was relishing every moment, but also saying goodbye to all those people that I had associated with over the years. So I still miss them."

Perhaps Star Wars will treat us to another Luke Skywalker scene at some point. Showing up as a Force ghost in the Rey movie could be very poignant.

The next Star Wars up to bat is Ahsoka, which premieres on Disney+ in August!

dark. Next. There are “no plans” to continue the Obi-Wan Kenobi show
