The second season of Shadow and Bone dropped on Netflix in March, yet there is still no official word on whether a third season (or a Six of Crows spin off) will be forthcoming. While there is no news on the spinoff, there is a glimmer of hope for fans still hoping for Shadow and Bone season 3.
In an interview with Deadline, Shadow and Bone casting director Sophie Holland said that there is still a lot of enthusiasm for the show and that “we’re really hoping for a third season.” She praised the loyalty of the fans and the talent of the actors. “It seems to have a huge fan base. It’s a fresh, up-and-coming cast.”
"It’s all about that first month’s performance on Netflix, I guess, so we’ll find out soon if it’s being recommissioned. It’s a tricky time, as you noted, so we’ll see."
Potential hope for Shadow and Bone season 3?
Despite the lack of updates from Netflix about the show, the loyal fan base Holland mentioned has not given up hope for a renewal. Many fans have been organizing watch parties ever since the show dropped in order to keep viewing numbers up, and hashtags related to Shadow and Bone have frequently trended on Twitter. Time will tell if Netflix decides this is enough and confirms a third season.
Shadow and Bone seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on Netflix.
