Back in 1990, legendary fantasy authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman combined forces to write Good Omens, a book about an angel and a demon who teamed up to prevent an apocalypse. Pratchett died in 2015, but Gaiman worked to adapt the book to TV in 2019, where it received a very warm reception on Amazon Prime Video.

The first season adapted the entirety of the book, but the show was so successful that Gaiman is going back for more. Based on ideas he and Pratchett had for a sequel, Gaiman developed Good Omens season 2, which will see Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant) once again trying to bob and weave between the forces of heaven and hell.

Amazon recently released the opening credits for the show, which are once again presented in a delightful, diorama-esque way. Watch below!

Release date for Good Omens season 2

We also got a poster. Behold:

The second season of Good Omens will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 28. Praise be.

Between this, The Sandman on Netflix, American Gods on Starz, and a series based on his book Anansi Boys on Amazon, Neil Gaiman may be at the height of his popularity and influence. That said, movement on some of those shows may be slowing down, since Gaiman doesn’t intend to work on any series during the ongoing writers strike. But Good Omens season 2 was pretty much already done by the time it was called, so it won’t be affected.
