The Spider-Verse is expanding! This week marks the long-awaited release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in theatres, which is super-exciting (and really, really good). But that’s just the beginning. The sequel movie Beyond the Spider-Verse is also on the way, and there are other projects in the works as well.
Speaking to Variety, producer Amy Pascal, who oversees all things Spider-Man, teased the future of the Spider-Verse, confirming that they’re working on a live-action Miles Morales movie and a Spider-Woman film. “You’ll see all of it,” she said. “It’s all happening.” Our Spidey-senses are tingling!
Producer Avi Arad added that a Spider-Woman movie could arrive “sooner than you expect,” but reiterated that he can’t say too much at the moment. “I cannot tell you yet, but it’s coming.”
Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland and Zendaya is pause due to the writer’s strike.
Of course, there’s also the potential of more adventures with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. The character is still only in high school; there’s a lot of potential story still to cover. Right now, the aim is to make Spider-Man 4’ but the ongoing writer’s strike at Hollywood is slowing down development.
“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” Pascal said. “We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.” Speaking to Variety, Holland himself said that he’s had “meetings” about Spider-Man 4, but that things are “on pause in solidarity with the writers.”
At the moment, Marvel Studios has not set a release window for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. These are still very early days.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now in theaters.
