Watch sneak peeks from Outlander season 7
By Daniel Roman
Outlander season 7 is just around the corner. In a few short weeks we’ll be back with the Fraser family for the first half of what’s promising to be an epic season. With the Revolutionary War kicking off, Jamie, Claire and all the rest will have to decide how to navigate the coming conflict. Happily for them, they have knowledge of the future, since most of the family are time travelers.
To get us all hyped for the upcoming return of the series, Starz has begun releasing sneak peeks. A slew of them went up on June 1 to commemorate World Outlander Day, which is the anniversary of when the original Outlander novel by Diana Gabaldon was released back in 1992. Let’s watch!
Jamie dreams of the future in Outlander season 7
This first clip is all about Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe). These two have always been the beating heart of Outlander, and we’re not expecting that to change in season 7.
In this clip, Jamie tells Claire about a dream he had where he saw her in her own “proper time” and reflects on the peculiar light illuminating her: electric light, which he has never seen but somehow recognized. Claire is bemused, and as these sorts of conversations often do on this show, it ends with a kiss. Get ready for the feels.
Roger prepares for war in Outlander season 7
Next up we check in with Claire and Jamie’s daughter Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and her husband Roger (Richard Rankin). While these two are both originally from the 20th century, they’ve been living in 18th century for the past couple of seasons now and have settled in pretty well.
But there are some dangers ahead. In the clip, Brianna and Roger talk about how he’s being sent off to serve as a minister for a group of soldiers. While Roger has plenty of experience with preaching — he grew up as the son of a preacher in Scotland — he hasn’t been around war. It’ll be interesting to see how it affects him, and what Brianna will get up to while they’re apart.
Brianna can’t figure out how to wish Roger well, since “break a leg” feels inappropriate for a preacher heading to war, so she settles on “god luck.” Give us all the puns Outlander, we’re here for them.
Happy World Outlander Day!
That brings us to the final video, which is a fun little clip of various cast members reflecting on the incredible journey that the series has taken them on, and wishing all the fans a happy World Outlander Day. Huzzah!
Outlander season 7 premieres on June 16. The premiere episode will drop on the Starz app at midnight, with the linear airing to follow at 8:00 p.m. EST.
