Caleb McLaughlin is “dreading” the final season of Stranger Things
By Ashley Hurst
The wait between new seasons of Stranger Things is always agonizing. And the show has had a difficult time of it lately, what with having to shoot around the pandemic and now dealing with the Writers Guild of America strike, which has put a pause of filming for the fifth and final season. Regardless, at some point this year, shooting is due to start. Star Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) is excited to get back on set, and he’s very ready for an emotional farewell.
The main cast of Stranger Things joined the show as kids; some of them weren’t even teenagers when they filmed the first season. Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) was only 12 when it premiered. Now all of them are adults.
That’s quite a journey for the lot of them. McLaughlin is relishing the opportunity to step back into the action one last time. “I’m looking forward to just, of course, seeing the cast again and getting back together,” he told Collider. “I grew up on the show, and when I see them, I feel like I’m my 13-year-old self again, having fun on set, being naive, and just living in this fun world.”
"And then, the thing that I’m dreading is that this will be the last one. Stranger Things has been a big part of my life. Even if I hated being on the show, I would miss it because I was such a kid, when I first came onto the show, and I grew up on the show through my adolescent years. I’m an adult now. I’m 21. So, it was a big part of my life. I grew up on the show, so it’s gonna be sad when it’s all over."
Caleb McLaughlin doesn’t “have all the secrets yet” about Stranger Things 5
That said, when it comes to how the show will end, McLaughlin doesn’t know much more than the rest of us. “I actually don’t have all the secrets yet,” he admitted. “I have an idea of what’s gonna happen, but I can’t wait to hear more about it, once this writers strike is over.”
The fourth season ended on a huge cliffhanger. The group had seemingly won the battle against Vecna… until the hellish Upside Down started to leak into the quaint town of Hawkins, Indiana. The chaos is just getting started.
There is still no release date for Stranger Things 5. Right now, Caleb McLaughlin is hyping up the release of his latest project, Shooting Stars, the story of basketball legend LeBron James, which is now streaming at Peacock.
