Good news for fans of Silo, the new science fiction thriller series on Apple TV+: Deadline reports that the show has officially been renewed for a second season!

Silo is based on the book trilogy of the same name by Hugh Howey. It’s the story of the last 10,000 people on Earth, who live in the titular Silo — a massive bunker which protects them from the toxic environment of the outside world. They’ve lived there for enough generations that no one remembers who built the Silo or what led the last remnants of humanity to start living there. But not all is as its seems, and the Silo has many secrets. The show stars Rebecca Ferguson (Dune) as Juliette, a mechanic who begins to unravel those secrets following the death of a loved one.

Silo has been a hit for Apple TV+. According to Nielsen it had the #1 debut for an original drama in the history of the streaming platform, and its viewership has been steadily growing since.

“It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic Silo quickly become Apple’s number one drama series,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two.”

Silo is coming back for season 2!

“We cannot wait for audiences around the world to immerse themselves in the epic world we have created to bring Hugh Howey’s novels to life,” said showrunner Graham Yost. “Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it’s an honor to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo.”

The first season of Silo has largely covered the events of Wool, the first novel in Howey’s series. We can presume that the show will now be getting into more material from Shift and Dust, the following two books in the series.

In addition to Ferguson, Silo stars David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, and Tim Robbins. It also features appearances by Game of Thrones alum Iain Glenn and Succession alum Harriet Walter. The cast is pretty stacked!

Silo’s first season consists of ten episodes. As of this writing, there are three left to go. New episodes drop on Apple TV+ on Fridays.

Silo isn’t the only big budget sci-fi drama on Apple TV+. The streamer also runs Foundation, a loose adaptation of the famous book series by Isaac Asimov.

A new season is coming soon. Check out the trailer below:

Foundation season 2 premieres on July 14.

dark. Next. 4 Game of Thrones characters we’d bring back from the dead (and 3 we wouldn’t)
