HBO is currently filming the second season of House of the Dragon in Wales, and we have been doing our darndest to decode what’s happening. We got some particularly juicy new shots from the set last week: a quartet of figures stood on a hill. Are these the dragonseeds from George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood?

In summary, in Fire & Blood, Rhaenyra Targaryen and her blacks get to a point where they have more dragons than riders. Rhaenyra puts out a call: if anyone can tame the riderless dragons on Dragonstone, they will be rewarded with titles and lands, assuming they fight for Rhaenyra in the war against her half-brother Aegon for the Iron Throne, of course.
Many people answer the call, but taming dragons is a dangerous business. Many die or are injured. In the end, four people emerge successful: Hugh Hammer rides the dragon Vermithor (the dragon Daemon visited at the end of season 1); Ulf the White mounts the dragon Silverwing; Addam of Hull tames Seasmoke (the dragon that used to be ridden by Laenor Velaryon), and a girl named Nettles bonds with a wild dragon named Sheepstealer.
Although we’re not sure, fans think they have identified actor Kieran Bew in the picture above; based on his stature, we think he may be playing Hugh Hammer. Actors Leon Ockenden and Parker Lapaine may also be in the picture above; the thinking is that one of them is playing Ulf. The dark-skinned girl is probably playing Nettles, although fans haven’t been able to identify the actor yet.
Clinton Liberty, the actor who might be playing Addam of Hull, films House of the Dragon season 2
Addam of Hull, who in Fire & Blood is the bastard son of Corlys Velaryon, is another matter. Although it’s not settled, we think that Addam might be played by an actor named Clinton Liberty. Liberty isn’t among the figures on the hill in the shot above, but he’s clearly playing someone important, because a lot of new shots emerged of him filming something on a beach:

And here he is working directly with director Clare Kilner:

So whether he’s playing Addam of Hull or not, clearly Clinton Liberty is playing someone of note if he’s getting facetime with the director. I hope he’s playing Addam. The other option is that the show is bringing back Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan), Corlys Velaryon’s trueborn son, to take over Addam’s role. We’ve seen actor John MacMillan on set, so something like that is possible. The mystery continues.
Big silly bluescreen dragon heads on the set of House of the Dragon
Finally, we have a couple images of a mysterious Targaryen-blonde figure being trailed by a couple of crew members wearing blue body suits and holding up a big blue head, which will no doubt be a dragon by the time the special effects team gets through with it:

It’s unclear who the figure might be, although given that they have dark skin and silver-blonde hair, we’re probably looking at someone with Velaryon DNA.
