8. The Fellowship reunited in The Return of the King

You’ll find a lot of moments from The Return of the King on this list. You can’t have a huge, epic conclusion to a quest like this one end without, like, six endings. That’s just the way that it goes!

One of the best of those “endings” is when Frodo reunites with the Fellowship in Minas Tirith. After destroying the Ring and getting rescued by the eagles, Frodo wakes up to find Gandalf watching over him. This is such a great moment because Frodo still doesn’t know that Gandalf has returned. He doesn’t know he is not dead. He also doesn’t know if any of the other members of the Fellowship are alive, either.

This great moment continues when Merry and Pippin enter Frodo’s room and mob him on the bed. Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn join them, and it’s one big party! But there’s one important character missing: Samwise Gamgee, the key to this whole story.

Sam enters the room, and there’s a great moment with Frodo and Sam where they aren’t necessarily happy about everything that’s happened, but they are happy to see each other at the end of this. It’s more of an understanding look than anything. They know what they’ve been through while the others don’t.
