Filming continues on the second season of House of the Dragon, writers strike or no writers strike! The latest news comes from Wales, where a cavalry rides across the moors:
Did you catch the one guy waving to the cameraman at the end?
Although it’s hard to tell from this distance, based on other shots of this same group, we can guess that soldiers are part of the green faction, aka those who pledge their loyalty to King Aegon II Targaryen, who sits the Iron Throne despite the attempts of his half-sister Rhaenyra to take it for herself. We can tell because their breastplates bear the symbol of a golden dragon, a reference to Aegon’s gold dragon Sunfyre. Rhaenyra also uses a dragon sigil, but it’s in the traditional Targaryen colors of red and black.
Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) in Wales for House of the Dragon season 2
Speaking of Rhaenyra, actor Emma D’Arcy has been posting shots of the Welsh countryside to their Instagram feed, so odds are D’Arcy is on set filming something or another. And according to the Twitter account @HousetheDragons, the child actors who play Aegon III Targaryen and Viserys Targaryen — the children of Rhaenyra and Daemon — are on set as well.
Or at least, they were. @HousetheDragons also reports that, after filming at over 10 locations in a month, shooting in North Wales has come to an end. Onward and upward.
We don’t know exactly how long filming on the second season of House of the Dragon will take, but HBO is hoping to air the new season sometime next summer.
