Rick and Michonne’s Walking Dead spinoff show gets title, logo
By Dan Selcke
AMC is currently working on a TV show about Rick and Michonne, two characters from The Walking Dead who mostly sat out the final leg of the series. Rick, played by Andrew Lincoln, was once the main character, but exited stage right in season 9 when he was airlifted away by the mysterious Civic Republic Military. Michonne (Danai Gurira), with whom Rick had a child, left in search of him sometime after.
What became of these two? We got the barest of hints in a stinger at the end of The Walking Dead series finale, but AMC will dive into it in more detail with a new spinoff. Today, they revealed that the title of Rick and Michonne Walking Dead show is…The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne.
They didn’t have to stretch themselves too much to come up with that one. But then again, does the title not say it all?
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon show is “definitely not more of the same”
The dead simple title is in keeping with how AMC is naming its expanding network of Walking Dead spinoffs. For instance, there’s another spinoff coming up about the further adventures of Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus. It is called…The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
The title is straightforward, but the concept is pretty out there; the new show will take Daryl to France, where he’ll encounter a whole new set of challenges. “This is probably the closest to a standalone show you will ever get,” producer Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly. “The goal isn’t just to see Daryl in exotic and new locations, but to explore a wholly different world.”
"This is definitely not more of the same. Our show introduces new characters, new themes, and is an exciting extension of the genre that will delight people who love this kind of storytelling and crave more."
The Daryl show is due out on AMC and AMC+ later this year. Rick & Michonne is set to follow sometime in 2024.
