The Witcher season 3 vol. 2 trailer breakdown
By Daniel Roman
Ciri meets the Rats
While the start of volume 2 will likely be all about Thanedd, we’re going to see quite a few other locales as well. We know that Ciri will meet the teenage band of thieves known as the Rats. The actor in the center background of the above shot looks a lot like Ben Radcliffe, who plays the gang’s leader Giselher, and the elf standing beside him could be Kayleigh (Fabian McCallum).
Ciri first meets the Rats when she and the thief Kayleigh are captured by some trappers in the Korath desert, who want to turn them in to Nilfgaard for their respective bounties. After they escape, Ciri falls in with the Rats, who she’ll likely be spending quite a lot of time with in season 4.
Next, a lighter moment! Yennefer gives Jaskier a big old hug. No idea where this is, but hey, it’s always a good time to hug it out with your bard bestie.
The aforementioned Korath desert, also known as the Frying Pan, where Ciri will be tested to her limits. The outdoor Korath shots were filmed in Morocco, and Ciri actor Freya Allan said it was the most challenging shoot she’s done yet for the series.
It won’t be all bad though! Ciri will also make an unexpected friend in the Korath desert:
Yup, that’s a unicorn! This encounter is pulled straight from The Time of Contempt, unlikely as that may seem. It’s great to see that Netflix decided to keep it for the TV show.
Next we’re back to tearful goodbyes, as we see that hug from earlier but from Yennefer’s perspective. “No matter where you go, we will never be apart. Remember your strength,” she tells Ciri.
Geralt’s there too, and wearing the same clothes he has on when he fights Vilgefortz:
This feels like it might be the final scene this little found family is going to get before they’re tossed to the winds.
