Ryan Reynolds shares first pic of Deadpool and Wolverine together
By Dan Selcke
With so many superhero movies coming out these days, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get people interested, but Ryan Reynolds has people talking about Deadpool 3, where he will return to the play the motor-mouthed murdering mercenary. How has he managed this? It helps that he’s gotten Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine, years after his version of the character died in 2017’s Logan.
How will Wolverine return? Reynolds and co. are keeping the plot of Deadpool 3 under wraps, but I’d say there’s around a 400% chance that it involves the multiverse, since that’s what every superhero movie and TV show has concerned itself with for the past few years.
Today, Reynolds shared the first image of Jackman back in action in Deadpool 3 over on his Instagram. Check it out below:
Hugh Jackman wears Wolverine’s classic outfit in first pic from Deadpool 3
Jackman is decked out head-to-toe in yellow spandex here. The outfit looks like Wolverine’s costume from Marvel Comics, which is notable because, despite playing the character on film for over two decades now, to my knowledge Jackman never actually donned this get-up; it was mostly black vinyl or plainclothes.
But we’re deep into the superhero renaissance at this point, and it’s time to bring out the classics. And Wolverine’s outfit isn’t the only blast from the past in Deadpool 3…
Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in Deadpool 3
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool 3 will mark the return of Jennifer Garner of Elektra Natchios, a Greek super-ninja she first played opposite Ben Affleck in the 2003 film Daredevil. She also played Elektra in the 2005 spinoff movie Elektra.
Neither of those pre-MCU superhero films are considered to have aged gracefully, but that shouldn’t be a problem for the Deadpool franchise, which has always ridden high on camp, memes, and winking meta-commentary.
I’m betting Deadpool 3 has other surprises in store we haven’t heard about it. The movie comes out in theaters on May 3, 2024.
