Homelander from The Boys may be in new Mortal Kombat game
By Daniel Roman
Few modern TV villains are as loathsome as Homelander, the psychotic superhero at the center of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys. He’s the sort of villain you love to hate. Have you ever just wished you could punch him in the face, or chop him into bloody bits?
Well, soon you may be able to, because Homelander could be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1. The Mortal Kombat video games have a vaunted history of including characters from other franchises as playable combatants, such as the T-800 from Terminator or Kratos from God of War. In the latest installment, Homelander will seemingly join the roster.

Will Homelander be playable in Mortal Kombat 1?
This news comes via Dextero, whose eagle-eyed reporters noticed that the Vought International Studios TikTok account dropped some intriguing comments on a recent video promoting The Boys‘ crossover campaign with Call of Duty. When some fans began questioning whether we’d see other crossovers, possibly in Mortal Kombat 1, Vought International replied, “MK confirmed.”
That opened the floodgates for fans to ask more questions about how Homelander will appear in the game, which led to the Vought International Studios account further elaborating that “Homelander will be available at some point. That’s all we can say.”
The most surprising thing about all this is that NetherRealm Studios, the company behind the Mortal Kombat games, hasn’t yet confirmed any additional characters beyond the game’s basic roster. It’s possible that this Vought TikTok account was just trolling — it’d be far from the first time a social media account connected to The Boys has done it — but Homelander would be a perfect fit for a game like Mortal Kombat, so we’re inclined to hope. We won’t know for sure though until we get some sort of official announcement.
Mortal Kombat 1 is due out on September 19. The Boys season 4 has wrapped filming but has not yet set a release date. Expect it sometime in late 2023 or 2024.
