2023 is shaping up to be a pretty big year for The Walking Dead. Following the series finale of AMC’s long-running zombie drama last year, AMC readied a series of spinoffs that followed some of the show’s most iconic characters. We’re already deep into The Walking Dead: Dead City, which sees Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) team up on a rescue mission to Manhattan. Next up after that is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which will follow Norman Reedus’ crossbow-wielding hero.
The series will follow the character on a journey to Europe, where he uncovers new secrets about how the zombie pandemic has affected the rest of the world. We don’t know exactly what he’ll find yet, but if the latest teaser for the series is any indication, it’s gonna be pretty spooky:
Daryl is branded by scary nuns in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon teaser
The teaser, titled “The Abbey,” draws us in with some out-of-focus imagery of Daryl waking up strapped to a table. As Daryl struggles against his straps, a nun comes over to restrain him and places a burning brand against his arm. We don’t get to see what design the brand sears into Daryl’s flesh, but the mere fact of it is plenty unnerving. The camera then shifts to show a whole group of these nuns before panning out to show more of the abbey.
What brought Daryl there, and what’s the deal with all these scary nuns? We’ll find out when The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premieres this fall on AMC and AMC+.
