Daniel Radcliffe “excited” to watch Max’s Harry Potter TV series
By Ashley Hurst
From Narnia to Eragon to the DC Universe, there are tons of big franchise reboots coming our way. Perhaps the most notable of all is a new Harry Potter TV show coming to Max, which people have mixed feelings about. We have movies, right? Is a reboot really necessary?
However fans feel about it, a Harry Potter TV show is pretty much a guaranteed success, since the franchise remains very popular. Following Max’s announcement of the show, several actors from the original movies have weighed in, and they’ve largely been positive. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) has said that he “can’t wait” to see the rebooted show, and Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) wouldn’t mind a role on the show.
Now, Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has given his opinion on the reboot. “I’m excited for it as a viewer,” he told Variety. “I’ll be able to enjoy it with everyone else possibly, with a slightly different perspective.”
Radcliffe is most excited to see a new cast of actors get the chance to portray these beloved characters. “It’s a nice thing that a whole new generation is going to get introduced to the stories in a new way. They’ll see it as a TV series, so they’ll probably have time to go into all the things. So for the people that were angry about things that were cut from the film, hopefully, they will finally be able to see the full version they wanted,” he said.
Max’s Harry Potter series doesn’t have a release date yet. These are still early days, and with the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, it could be some time before it hits our screens.
Daniel Radcliffe has been nominated for an Emmy for the Weird Al Yankovic movie!
The 2023 Emmy nominations were announced earlier this week, and Radcliffe was nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie” for his role as Weird Al in Weird: The Al Yankovic Movie.
“I loved doing this movie,” Radcliffe said after receiving the nomination. “I always pick things because I just fall in love with the script or fall in love with the idea of doing certain projects, with no expectations beyond having a good time on set and hoping that other people will enjoy the final product.”
"So to get something like this is very unexpected. It’s incredibly cool. And I’m really delighted that the film’s been nominated for writing. It’s a really good morning all around."
Congratulations and best of luck to Daniel Radcliffe! The Emmys will air on NBC on September 18, again, assuming the strikes don’t throw things off.
