New images for The Wheel of Time season 2 confirm trailer on the way!

Last week, The Wheel of Time Twitter account dropped a brand new poster for season 2, which got us plenty hyped for the show’s return in a couple of months. The poster reveal also came with a tease that we’d see more of what “The Pattern has in store” the following week. Many fans took that as a promise that a trailer was on the way, and now we have confirmation: the trailer for The Wheel of Time season 2 will drop this Wednesday!

The news comes coutersy of Nerdist, who revealed a slew of exclusive images from the trailer to get us hyped:

Egwene, Elayne, Perrin and Lan stun in new Wheel of Time season 2 images

Based on Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time book series, the TV show follows an ensemble cast of characters who are drawn into a conflict to stop the rise of dark, malevolent forces. Season 2 promises a whole new set of challenges drawn from the second and third books in Jordan’s series, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn.

In the images, we see Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) looking exhausted. If the show follows Jordan’s novels, expect Perrin do quite a lot of traveling this season. We also see Lan al’Mandragoran (Daniel Henney), the warder to Rosamund Pike’s Aes Sedai sorceress Moiraine, riding his horse through the forest with his heron-marked blademaster sword slung across his back.

But by far the most intriguing image shows Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden) channeling the One Power while Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney) looks on with concern behind her. The two are in the middle of what looks like a jungle. They’re both wearing white dresses, which is the color Novices wear in the White Tower, where Aes Sedai are trained.

Amazon has released an official synopsis for The Wheel of Time’s upcoming second season:

"In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light … or the Dark."

The Wheel of Time season 2 premieres September 1 on Prime Video. The trailer for season 2 arrives this Wednesday, July 19, at 6:00 a.m. PST / 9:00 a.m. EST.
