Prime Video has seen fit to answer our request for more of The Boys, announcing this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con that the franchise’s first live-action spinoff, Gen V, will be premiering on September 29. Gen V takes all the raunch and social commentary of The Boys and packs it off to a superhero college, which feels like the perfect setting for the series’ signature humor.

It’s time to start getting hyped for the show. In our current streaming age of ever-shorter seasons, one thing you may be wondering about is how many episodes will Gen V have. Fortunately, we know the answer!

How many episodes is Gen V?

Gen V will drop its first three episodes all at once, with a new episode following every Friday until the season finale on November 3. In total, its first season will have eight episodes. That’s the same amount of episodes that seasons of The Boys have, so it’s not surprising to see the franchise stick to that formula. It’s not known yet whether Gen V will receive a second season order.

The spinoff series takes place between The Boys seasons 3 and 4, and will feature cameos from mothership series characters like A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) and Adam Bourke (P.J. Byrne). It stars Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas and Marco Pigossi.

Gen V premieres on  September 29 on Prime Video.
