Dyanna (Maddie Evans) will return in House of the Dragon season 2

The second season of House of the Dragon continues to film in the UK; they’re about halfway done, by George R.R. Martin’s mark.

This is despite Hollywood currently being beset by actors and writers strikes, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to actors in the UK. It’s complicated, but the upshot is that House of the Dragon is continuing to film while many other productions are shutting down. Actors like Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith will return for the second season, and we’re getting lots of information about new characters big and small.

And then then are some minor characters from season 1 also making a return, characters like…

Who is Dyanna on House of the Dragon?

In the first season of House of the Dragon, there’s a scene later on where Alicent Hightower talks with a serving woman named Dyana, played by Maddie Evans. Dyana has been sexually assaulted by Alicent’s son Prince Aegon and is clearly terrified that she’s going to face some kind of retribution, even though she’s not the one at fault. All things considered, Alicent is gentler with Dyana that we might expect, although it’s clear that no woman is safe with Aegon running the place. And now that he’s king, he’ll have even more power.

According to reliable fanstie Redanian Intelligence, Maddie Evans will return as Dyana in House of the Dragon season 2. We’ll be spending a lot of time in the Red Keep with the greens, so it makes sense that the serving staff would still be around. We don’t know if Dyana specifically will have a bigger role to play, but I like that minor characters from season 1 will carry over.

Dyana does not appear in George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. She’s a character invented for the show. Season 2 is set to return sometime in the summer of 2024, so long as things go well. Even if House of the Dragon is still in production, the strikes could affect it in other ways.
