Strikes or no strikes, filming on the second season of House of the Dragon continues. Filming is mostly going on at Leavesden Studios in England. Fans can’t get on the inside, but they’re taking plenty of pics of what’s happening on the backlots.

The latest suite of shots comes from @UnBoxPHD on Twitter. Most intriguingly, they have an image of a large ship set:

Another image shows that this ship bears the flag of House Velaryon, which isn’t surprising considering that the Velaryons have always been great sea-farers. And yet another shows what looks like dried blood splattered on the deck. Trouble on the high seas?

What will the ship set be used for in House of the Dragon season 2?

If you’ve read George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, you know there are a few big events at sea coming up in House of the Dragon season 2. Beware SPOILERS from here on out!

The most obvious incident at sea coming over the horizon is the Battle of the Gullet, a major fracas that involves dragons, dragonriders, and a fleet of ships. We won’t spoil the details, but it’s a pretty important battle I could see coming in near the end of season 2. The presence of dragon-killing ballistas also suggest we could be looking at the Battle of the Gullet.

And yes, important characters die during the battle. This is a Game of Thrones show, after all. That said, there are other things that happen at sea. Now that the war is on, multiple characters will sail away from Dragonstone, since that area now has a lot of heat on it. The idea is for them to wait out the war somewhere safer. For some that works out, and their sea journeys are uneventful. For others…

We can see how it all plays out when House of the Dragon season 2 airs on HBO and Max sometime next year.
