The first season of House of the Dragon introduced us to Larys Strong, the clubfooted younger son of the Strong family and Alicent Hightower’s master of whisperers. Also he’s really into feet. I don’t know whether that will be important but ever since that scene it’s all I can think about.

Larys, played by Matthew Needham, will be back for House of the Dragon season 2, plotting and scheming ways to defeat Alicent’s enemies, which mainly means her former best friend Rhaenyra Targaryen and her family. Rhaenyra intends to claim the Iron Throne. Alicent is determined that it be occupied by her son Aegon. Heads will roll, and Larys plans to make certain that his isn’t among them.

Courtesy of @UnBoxPHD, we now have the first video footage of Needham in costume on the House of the Dragon. Take a look below:

There’s a longer video as well:

Larys Strong contemplates life’s deeper mysteries on the set of House of the Dragon season 2

This doesn’t tell us much; Larys is standing in a tower in the Red Keep, looking over the railing. What is he looking at? What is he thinking? Is he thinking about feet? Probably. But we don’t know for sure.

The second season of House of the Dragon will continue to adapt George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. During this stretch of the Dance of the Dragons, Larys spends most of his time in King’s Landing plotting on behalf of the greens, so it’s no surprise to see him in the Red Keep. We’ll find out more when House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.
