Peacock has just dropped the trailer for The Continental, its new John Wick spinoff miniseries which is due to hit the streamer next month. The Continental explores an earlier time in the high-octane assassin series, showing how a young Winston Scott came to acquire the show’s namesake hotel for hitmen.

Winston was played by Ian McShane in all four John Wick movies; in The Continental, we’ll see actor Colin Woodell bring the character to life as a young man:

Winston gets a desperate mission in The Continental

The Continental is set in 1970’s New York, and that aesthetic is on full display in the trailer, from its soundtrack to its style. The trailer also gives us our first look at Mel Gibson as Cormac, who appears to be the previous owner of the Continental. From the sounds of things, Winston’s brother has stolen something he shouldn’t have, and Cormac is ready to go on a bloody path of retribution unless Winston sets things right first.

In addition to Gibson and Woodell, The Continental stars Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada and Nhung Kate. Since it’s set long before the days of John Wick’s work with Winston, we’re not expecting to see Keanu Reeves’ assassin from the movies show up. But you never know! Expect the unexpected with the John Wick franchise.

The Continental is a three-part limited series. Part one premieres September 22 on Peacock, with parts two and three following on September 29 and October 6, respectively.
