More Dragonseeds join cast of House of the Dragon season 2

HBO continues to film the second season of House of the Dragon, mainly in England. If you’re in the right place at the right time, you just might get to see the cameras rolling

The first season of the show ended with Rhaenyra Targaryen learning of the death of her son Lucerys Velaryon, who was killed by his uncle Aemond Targaryen. She turns to the camera, clearly hungry for vengeance. Whatever happens next, it’s gonna be crazy.

If you’ve read George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, you know what happens next, and we’re seeing some of it in action on set. We recently got some information about the Dragonseeds. We’re happy to share it with you, but beware of SPOILERS beyond this point.

Robert Rhodes joins House of the Dragon as Silver Denys

Okay, so it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to say that more dragons will fight each other in the second season of House of the Dragon. Eventually, Rhaenyra and her blacks will be running a little low, so they hatch a plan to find new riders to mount some of the riderless dragons who make their home on the island of Dragonstone. Daemon mentioned a few of those dragons in the season 1 finale: they include Vermithor, the Cannibal and Sheepstealer.

Basically, the blacks offer to gives lands and titles to anyone who can successful tame these dragons and who will fight for Rhaenyra. Many people try their luck. They become known as the Dragonseeds. This event becomes known as the Sowing of the Seeds. Eventually, four such hopefuls succeed in taming a quartet of dragons — we think that’s them in the photo above — but there are also many people who try and fail…hard.

One of those people is Silver Denys, a local Dragonstone man who claims to be a descendent of a bastard child of King Maegor I Targaryen, known as Maegor the Cruel. It’s not clear if he’s telling the truth, but he has silver hair, so it’s likely he does have some Valyrian heritage. Anyway, he tries to mount the dragon Sheepstealer. Without giving away specifics, he fails. Badly.

According to Redanian Intelligence, Silver Denys will be played by Robert Rhodes.

Recently, Birdston Talent Management wished Rhodes good luck, saying that he’s “out shooting on a HUGEEEEE TV gig.” And Rhodes himself tweeted that he’s been pinching himself and feels “the luckiest Actor in the worlddddddd!!!” So yeah, expect him to show up in House of the Dragon season 2.

When will the dragonseeds feature in House of the Dragon season 2?

And Redanian Intelligence has even more news about the Dragonseeds: according to the website, the Sowing of the Seeds will take place in Episode 7 of season 2, which has a total of eight episodes.

There are a lot of big events coming in season 2, including the introductions of Blood and Cheese and the Battle at Rook’s Rest. The show will need time to do those twists justice, but even so, introducing the dragonseeds in Episode 7 of 8 seems a little late to me.

Maybe we’ll meet some of the eventual dragonseeds earlier in the season but they’ll only start mounting up in Episode 7. Or maybe Episode 7 will be devoted entirely to the successes and failures of the dragonseeds, which could be fun.

In any case, Episode 7 will be directed by Loni Peristere, who works on the Max show Warrior. This is a complete non-sequiter, but Warrior is awesome and you should watch it:

Next. Warrior delivers a Godfather moment in gripping Episode 308. dark
