Game of Thrones actor Darren Kent dies at the age of 36
By Daniel Roman
Actor Darren Kent, who appeared in Game of Thrones and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, has passed away. He was 36 years old.
Kent appeared in the season 4 finale of Game of Thrones, “The Children,” where he played a goatherd whose child was killed by Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon Drogon. You probably remember the scene where he brings his daughter’s charred body to court; though Kent only appeared briefly in the series, his performance stood out:
Kent’s talent agency, Carey Dodd Associates, confirmed the news of the actor’s passing on X. “It is with deep sadness we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday,” they wrote. “His parents and best friend [were] by his side. Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. RIP my friend.”
Kent acted in films and shows like Snow White and the Huntsman, Marshal’s Law, The Frankenstein Chronicles, Les Misérables, Jeepers Creepers: Reborn and EastEnders. One of his most recent appearances was in this year’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where he played a reanimated corpse. Kent was also a writer and director who helmed several films, including the crime drama Abusing Protocol.
Variety reports that Kent also won the Van D’or Awards in 2012 for Sunny Boy. In that movie, Kent played a character named Danny who had a rare skin condition that prevented him from going into the sun. Kent suffered from a skin disorder in real life, as well as osteoporosis and arthritis.
Our thoughts go to Kent’s loved ones at this time. We shall never see his like again.
