By gum, the fans pulled it off! When Netflix canceled the fantasy show Warrior Nun after two seasons, the fans didn’t let up, and began a campaign to save it. And save it they did, with showrunner Simon Barry announcing the other month that the show was coming back.
Now we have more details from executive producer Dean English, who wrote on a new website called warriornunsaved.com. “I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures,” he said. “Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”
English also thanked the fans for their support and hinted that the ongoing actors and writers strikes may prevent further announcements for a while. Right now, we don’t even know if these movies will appear on Netflix or in theaters or what. But at least we know they’re happening.
Warrior Nun producer envisions some kind of Warrior Nun cinematic universe
We also don’t know what the movies will be about, although we imagine they’ll follow up on the story of titular warrior nun Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), a 19-year-old who joins an ancient order dedicated to fighting the vampires (probably), the demons and the forces of darkness.
Anyway, good news for fans! Although English also said something that should put people on edge:
"Some may ask, “Does this perhaps infer that there’s going to be a universe being launched of Warrior Nun, which could expand into films and TV series following characters that we already know?” The answer to that question is yes. And there will be more details in the future."
In other words, Dean English has hopes that Warrior Nun could turn into some kind of cinematic universe, complete with multiple spinoffs. Why it isn’t enough for his beloved series to come back and get a second chance at life is beyond me…well, that’s not true, it’s because he sees a chance to make money. But how about we just focus on getting Warrior Nun back up and running before we contemplate spinoffs, hmm?
