Neil Gaiman: There will not be a Good Omens season 4
By Dan Selcke
The second season of Good Omens is now available to watch in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video, delighting fans of the ineffable duo of Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennnat), an angel and a demon who are determined to make it work.
The season 2 finale left the pair in something of a lurch, and fans everywhere are hoping that Amazon renews the show for another season. If that happens, that will be all we get, according to creator Neil Gaiman.
Over on Gaiman’s blog, a fan brought up the idea of continuing Good Omens for two more seasons, through seasons 3 and 4, but Gaiman was pretty definitive: “No, there won’t be an S4.”
Good Omens season 2 is just set-up for season 3
Good Omens is an odd one. The original book, written by Gaiman together with Terry Pratchett, came out in 1990. The first season of the show adapts the entirety of the book, so there would seem to be nowhere left to go.
But obviously season 2 exists, so it went somewhere. It seems that, before Pratchett’s death in 2015, he and Gaiman had dreamed up an idea for a sequel, but never got around to writing it. So season 2 is that sequel?
Well, no. Season 3 is set to be an adaptation of that never-written sequel. Season 2 is more of a bridge to get there. (By the by, should Good Omens season 3 not happen, Gaiman has vowed to write that story in book form.) Apparently Gaiman thinks that one more season is all they need to finish the story, so there won’t be a season 4.

But we’re talking about seasons 3 and 4 when season 2 just came out. There’s still stuff to enjoy there. For instance, take a look at this behind-the-scenes feature on the special effects:
And here’s Gaiman himself on set with Sheen and Tennant:
Hopefully we get more of that sort of thing in the future.
