HBO is currently in Bourne Woods in Surrey, England filming a huge sequence for the second season of House of the Dragon. Get ready for the Battle at Rook’s Rest!

This battle, which will go down in Episode 4 of season 2, involves Lord Commander of the Kingsguard Criston Cole leading an army of soldiers to the castle of Rook’s Rest, which is located northeast of King’s Landing and held by an ally of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s. I won’t give away all the details, but it suffices to say that battle is joined, both on the ground and in the air. If you’d like more spoiler-y details, you can find them here.

We’ve been getting tons of pictures and video from the set, most courtesy of @UnBoxPHD, who is doing heroic work. Check out some of the latest shots of soldiers arrayed for battle below:

Chaaaaarge!

Criston Cole will sport shorter hair in House of the Dragon season 2

Fabien Frankel, who plays Criston Cole, is on set, as well he might be. Apparently he’s sporting a shorter haircut than he did last season:

It looks a little more modern to me than his longer locks did in season 1, but what am I gonna do, sit here and tell you that I know what men’s hairstyles were like back in medieval times? Also, I suppose he could still put on a wig before the cameras start rolling, although it seems doubtful; those things take time to apply.

Also, there’s a clip of Criston Cole screaming at somebody over not being “dressed for battle.” Watch below:

According to @UnBoxPHDCole is shouting at Alicent Hightower’s brother Gwayne, who is played by Freddie Fox. Does Gwayne deserve the chastisement, or is Criston just working out some issues by yelling at people? We’ll find out when House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.
