Easily the best scene from the first season of House of the Dragon comes in Episode 8, “The Lord of the Tides.” King Viserys I Targaryen, who by this point is wasted by disease, is determined to sit the Iron Throne so he can defend the claim of his daughter Rhaenyra. No one expect him to be well enough to make an appearance, so everyone is shocked as he lumbers slowly across the floor, finally taking his seat with some help from his brother Daemon.
I still tear up at this scene. Should I have admitted that? Whatever, it’s incredible.
