This week marks the premiere of The Winter King, a new drama based on a series of books by Bernard Cornwell, one of the best historical fiction authors alive today. His books have formed the basis of shows like SharpeThe Last Kingdom, and more. And now there’s The Winter King.

Specifically, The Winter King is based on The Warlord Chronicles, a book trilogy about the legendary King Arthur. Cornwell’s series looks at Arthur and other famous figures like Merlin through the eyes of a comparatively low-level warrior named Derfel. It’s a very grounded take on the Arthurian legend, and could make a great TV show.

So when and where and how can you watch it? Read on.
