House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones, just as George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood is a prequel to his A Song of Ice and Fire, but on TV, so far we’ve seen a lot of fire and not much ice. There have been plenty of dragons lighting up the night, but little in the way of frost, chill and snow.

But that’s about to change. In the season 1 finale of House of the Dragon, you may remember that Rhaenyra Targaryen dispatched her son Jacaerys Velaryon (Jace to his friends) to visit the Eyrie and Winterfell to earn the loyalty of their lords. In Fire & Blood, Jace does exactly that, and we can expect him to do the same thing in House of the Dragon season 2. In other words, we’re going back to the North!

Currently, House of the Dragon is filming a huge battle sequence in Bourne Woods in England. That sequence, the Battle at Rook’s Rest, takes place near King’s Landing. But fans have also spotted snow on the ground, which implies that Bourne Woods could also stand in for the North. I mean, as long as you’re filming in the area, you might as well use it, right?

According to @housethedragons, the show retained the services of Snow Business, a company that makes fake snow for the film and TV industries.

What does Jace do in the North in House of the Dragon season 2?

At the time of House of the Dragon, the lord of Winterfell is Cregan Stark, who’s a young man of about Jace’s age; Rhaenyra mentioned him in the season 1 finale.

In the book, Jace and Cregan become buddies. We’re sure he’ll show up in season 2, although we have yet to discovery who plays him.

The second season of House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.

Next. Ewan Mitchell (Aemond Targaryen) shows up on House of the Dragon set for big battle scene. dark
