The second season of Amazon’s The Wheel of Time show is almost here, and I’m excited. That’s party because I’ve gotten to watch some of the new episodes ahead of time and I think they’re pretty good! Of course, I also more or less enjoyed the first season, so if you’re someone who thinks The Wheel of Time season 1 was terrible, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

One of the complaints people had about the first season is that it strayed too far from The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan (later finished by Brandon Sanderson). Perhaps this new scene will please some of those fans, since it’s very close to a scene in The Great Hunt, the second book in the series.

The small town wisdom Nynaeve al’Meara is training to become and Aes Sedai sorceress at the White Tower in Tar Valon. At the start of the book, she’s a novice who mostly spends her time cleaning pots and pans. But at one point, she’s given the opportunity to become an Accepted, to level up. But to do that, she needs to pass a series of trials. That’s what she’s considering in the clip below:

The episode this clip is from is particularly good; you’ll see after season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 1. Amazon is dropping the first three episodes all at once!

In the meantime, there’s some fun promo material to look through. This new ad gives us a brief look at Meera Syal as Verin, an important Aes Sedai character:

Also, I had to highlight a feature on The Wheel of Time that appeared in the print version of Radio Times. The descriptions for the character are pretty funny, especially how they describe Nynaeve as a “grumpy magical prodigy”:

I mean, they’re not wrong.

Next. Ahsoka’s two-episode premiere captures that classic Star Wars magic. dark
