Jason Momoa exploded into the public eye as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, and has since gone on to become one of the most successful alumni from the cast. He appeared recently as the villain Dante in Fast X, where he gleefully chewed up the scenery by doing things like brushing nail polish onto the toes of the recently deceased as he happily talks to himself, a scene that apparently tested very well with audiences, according to director Louis Leterrier.

But as unhinged as Dante is, the movie still dialed down some of the wildest moments of Momoa’s performance, as Leterrier told Total Film. Momoa is just a charismatic guy; that’s why he’s such a sought-after commodity in Hollywood.

For instance, TheWrap reports that Momoa and Dave Bautista are being wooed to appear in a buddy action movie called The Wrecking Crew, to be directed by Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto. Of course, everything is on hold due to the writers and actors strikes (Momoa and Bautistia were in talks before those went into effect), but we can definitely see these two knocking heads on the big screen.

See Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger) in the trailer for Barber

We have no idea what The Wrecking Crew is about. I’m guessing Momoa and Bautista play construction workers who have to foil a diamond heist; just a feeling I have.

Momoa isn’t the only Game of Thrones alumnus getting gigs. Aidan Gillen, who played Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish is headlining the new thriller Barber, not to be confused with Barbie, which is a very different sort of movie. Check out the trailer below:

“Val Barber, a private investigator, is hired by a wealthy widow to find her missing granddaughter. Barber’s initial investigation into Sara’s disappearance quickly darkens,” reads the synopsis. “Secrets start surfacing in unexpected ways. Before too long, Barber finds himself entangled with powerful men of shady morals determined to thwart his investigation. Has he bitten off more than he can chew?” Find out when Barber comes out in theaters and on VOD on September 22.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster stars in The Artful Dodger on Disney+

Let’s end with Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who played Jojen Reed on Game of Thrones. He has an interesting new project coming up: The Artful Dodger, an eight-part miniseries coming to Disney+.

What kind of title is that? Well, the artful dodger is the name given to Jack Dawkins, a young pickpocket from Charles Dickens’ classic book Oliver Twist, aka the book where the little kid approaches someone with a soup bowl and says, “Please, sir, I want some more.” (Wait a minute, wasn’t Jack Dawkins the name of Leonardo Dicaprio’s character in Titanic? *looks it up* No, that was Jack Dawson, we’re good.) The Artful Dodger picks up years later after Jack has become a surgeon. Fagin, the guy who ran a pickpocket army in Oliver Twist, finds him and tempts him back into a life of crime.

Anyway, The Artful Dodger will premiere on Disney+ on November 29, according to Deadline. Enjoy, all you Dickens fanatics out there.

Next. More battle, death and maybe Matt Smith on the House of the Dragon set. dark
