Star Wars Rebels

After the Clone Wars, the Empire is in control of the galaxy. The Rebel Alliance opposes them. That’s where Star Wars Rebels picks up.

Season 2, Episodes 21-22: Twilight of the Apprentice

Season 2 of Rebels ends with a spectacular one-hour episode. This is the only Rebels episode on Disney’s official list by of things to watch before Ahsoka.

In this episode, Ahsoka meets Anakin as Darth Vader for the first time. The two lock horns at a Sith Temple on Malachor, where the rebels were visiting after young Jedi-in-training Ezra Bridger got a vision from Master Yoda. At one point, Ahsoka slices her former master’s black helmet in half. Ahsoka steps back in dismay, shocked at seeing the scarred and corrupted man beneath the mask.

A thousand words remain unsaid, as all the memories she shared with Anakin come flooding back, but so does finally understand that his master, friend, and comrade is beyond saving. This iconic scene is paid homage in Obi-Wan Kenobi. This episode also features the return of Maul, who has an interesting interaction with Ezra.

Season 4, Episode 13: “A World Between Worlds”

In this episode, we see how Ahsoka managed to survive when the temple crumbled down around her as she was dueling Darth Vader in the season 2 finale. Apparently, Ezra saved her using a mysterious plane of existence in the Force called World Between Worlds.

As per the Star Wars databank, the World Between Worlds lies behind the ancient paintings of the Mortis gods in the Lothal Kedi Temple and is a collection of pathways between time and space. Control of this plane was much coveted by Emperor Palpatine to gain… unlimited power.

Season 4, Episodes 15-16: Family Reunion (and Farewell)

The feature-length series finale ends the series in stunning fashion, but also leaves some storylines open.

Ezra Bridger sacrifices himself by surrendering when Grand Admiral Thrawn shows up to the planet Lothal with his star destroyer, Chimaera. A holographic form of Palpatine tries to lure Ezra to “open the door” to the World Between Worlds and meet his parents, who had passed away. But Ezra doesn’t give in to temptation. Ezra, along with Thrawn and everyone else aboard the star destroyer, gets sucked into hyperspace in a climactic showdown. His location is still unknown by the end of the episode.

Ahsoka promises the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren that she will find Ezra and bring him back in the penultimate shot of the finale. That’s still what she’s trying to do in the opening episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka.

The Mandalorian

Season 2, Episode 5: “The Jedi”

In this episode of The Mandalorian, fans see Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka for the first time. She provides Din Djarin with some much-required details about Grogu’s past. She turns down Din’s offer to train the youngling, but later helps him defeat Imperial Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth and free the city of Calodan.

In one scene, Ahsoka holds a lightsaber to the magistrate’s throat and asks, “Where is Admiral Thrawn?” Ahsoka also gifts Din a beskar spear previously wielded by the magistrate. This spear is later broken down by the Armorer in the forge to make chainmail armor for Grogu.

Ahsoka is later seen in The Book of Boba Fett, which further develops the relationship between her and Din Djarin. And that’s about where Star Wars: Ahsoka begins.
