Game of Thrones has produced a few mobile video games over the years. And here’s another one: Game of Thrones: Legends is an upcoming puzzle RPG from Zynga, the makers of Game of Thrones Slots Casino, so you know it’s good.
In the game, players “will take on the role of a Westeros leader, honing their tactics and skill as they strategically assemble a team of champions, equip weapons and gear, and face formidable foes from the Game of Thrones universe.” I don’t know exactly what that boils down to. According to The Hollywood Reporter, players will “have puzzle battles to conquer different game modes on missions throughout Westeros.”
You’ll be able to assemble a team of heroes that includes characters from both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Want Jon Snow, Rhaenyra Targaryen and Arya Stark to play together? They can.
Mix and match characters from Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon in Game of Thrones: Legends
I find it hard to get excited about these sorts of games; it sounds like it’s going to be a pretty basic sort of puzzle game with a Game of Thrones filter on it. Zynga executive Yaron Leyvand, on the other hand, is very enthusiastic:
"We’re excited to create an RPG puzzle experience that amplifies the mechanics of skilled play and adds in champion management with the magnificent setting, characters and lore of the Game of Thrones universe from both series. Game of Thrones: Legends will bring your favorite Westeros characters, events and locations to life to create an immersive strategy experience players and fans around the world can enjoy."
To this day, the most robust Game of Thrones video games are the graphic adventure games from Telltale. The Game of Thrones universe has yet to get the massive Skyrim-esque game I think a lot of fans would like. Until then, these mobile games will have to suffice.
