The first three episodes of The Wheel of Time season 2 are available to watch now on Amazon Prime Video. Fair warning: we’re going to SPOIL them below.

When we pick up with the show, Perrin Aybara is traveling with a group of soldiers from Shienar, the Borderlands city where the group ended up at the end of the first season. They’re looking for the Horn of Valere, which has been stolen by Padan Fain. Instead they find something else: trouble.

Perrin and company run into a group of Seanchan, people from across the sea. The Seanchan wear awesome costumes, enslave women who can channel to use as weapons, and are very mean. They capture the Shienaran soldiers and demand supplication. Then comes the big moment in the third episode, “What Might Be.” When one of the soldiers refuses to bend the knee, the Seanchan shove his head onto a big nasty spike, killing him.

Does Uno Nomesta die in The Wheel of Time books?

That dead man is Uno Nomesta (Guy Roberts), a Shienaran soldier with a cool-looking eyepatch and a penchant for cursing. Does he die in The Wheel of Time books like he does on the show?

In short, no. Season 2 adapts the second of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time books, The Great Hunt. Uno Nomesta features in that book, but survives it. In fact, he survives right through the final book in the series, A Memory of Light. He’s alive at the end of the whole story!

So the show makes a change here, probably to demonstrate how ruthless the Seanchan are. Uno Nomesta isn’t a hugely important character in the books, so it probably won’t be hard to write around his absence going forward, but it tells you that the show isn’t afraid to change things about the source material.

Rand walks a “very ugly and raw” path in The Wheel of Time season 2. dark. Next
