The first three episodes of The Wheel of Time season 2 are available to watch right now on Amazon Prime Video. All three dropped at once, meaning we got to spend a fair amount of time with all of the characters.

That includes Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn. When last we saw him, he had defeated what he thought was the Dark One at the Eye of the World. He is a male channeler, which means he’s doomed to go mad and hurt everyone around him. In order to avoid that, he fakes his own death and goes into self-imposed exile.

When we pick up with him, he’s living in the city of Cairhien and in a relationship (well, it might be more like friends with benefits) with an innkeeper named Selene.

Where is Rand living in The Wheel of Time season 2?

Cairhien is an important city in the world of The Wheel of Time. It was original built by Ogier, as many cities were. That said, Rand is living near the Foregate where most of the peasants and is unlikely to see the fancier parts of the city.

He does get to go to a fancy party with Selene, though, where he meets some of the scheming nobles. The nobles in Cairhien play a game called Daes Dae’mar, which refers to social and political maneuvering designed to advance their own interests (or to ruin people they don’t like).

Cairhien is ruled over by the king Galldrian. Will Rand make a new home here, or will he have to move on eventually?
