the most recent episode of The Wheel of Time, “Daughter of the Night,” was a big one: one character revealed themselves to be a major villain, there was major upheaval in the White Tower, and Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) learned more about his abilities as a wolfbrother. The season is up and running and fans can’t wait for Episode 5.

If you watch the preview for Episode 5 on Amazon Prime Video, you know that it will introduce another important character: the Aiel warrior Aviendha. The Aiel are a group of red-headed warriors who live in a vast desert. Rand’s mother was an Aiel woman. In a hilarious epic flashback in the first season, we saw her kick ass while fully pregnant with Rand:

Clearly, the Aiel know their way around weapons. And Aviendha will be no different.

Aviendha is “fierce” in The Wheel of Time Episode 205

“I’m so excited for people to meet Aviendha and Ayoola [Smart],” actor Marcus Rutherford told Decider. “I think it’s a character that, you know, is a fan favorite for a lot of reasons. And it’s quite hard to bring in something new and exciting. I think there’s already a plethora of incredible characters, but she’s done something amazing.”

"The way they introduce her character, kind of paying homage to the books, but doing something quite different as well, is so exciting. And she’s fierce, man. She’s one of the best fighters, if not the best, and she’s just raised the bar of the show to another level."

Indeed, the she show is introducing Aviendha a bit earlier than the books do, but considering how important a character she becomes, I have no problem with them getting out in front of things.

New episodes of The Wheel of Time drop Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
