Let’s all appreciate Lanfear’s bonkers outfit from The Wheel of Time Episode 5

The latest episode of The Wheel of Time, “Damane,” introduced us to new characters, cities and concepts. It pushed a lot of storylines forward and delivered excellent moments. But I’m having trouble remembering any of it, because all I can think of is what Lanfear was wearing at the end of the episode:

Halloween just got a lot more interesting.

But seriously, this costume is so fun. Lanfear looks like a cross between a dominatrix and a Power Rangers villain. I applaud costume designer Sharon Gilham and actor Natasha O’Keeffe for giving us all the wicked queen vibes in the world…after dark. Did we mention she has Rand al’Thor shirtless and tied to a wheel just out of frame? This scene has a mood.

Lanfear looks like she’s going to DJ a circuit party in the Upside Down

Lanfear is one of the Forsaken, a powerful group of channelers sworn to follow the Dark One, the source of all evil in the universe. So of course she dresses like that.

That said, this is a bit of a special case. This scene happens at the very end of the episode after Rand goes to sleep. He enters the dream world of Tel’aran’rhiod (my sympathies to all the actors who have to say that out loud), where Lanfear has unsurpassed control. So this is basically Lanfear’s dream outfit, created from her own will. And it is her will to look like she’s about to lead an army of monsters from the dark side of the moon into battle. Wouldn’t you?
