In April of 2022, English actor Joseph Gatt — who has lived in the U.S. for 18 years — was arrested in Los Angeles after his home was searched by police officers armed with a search warrant from the Juvenile Division, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He was charged with “contact with a minor for sexual offense” over allegedly explicit chats he had with a minor. He was also charged with felony possession of an assault weapon.
Gatt has appeared in movies like Star Trek Into Darkness and Dumbo, but is best known for playing a Thenn warg on the fourth season of Game of Thrones; his character died during the Battle of Castle Black after Samwell Tarly shot him in the head with a crossbow.
After his arrest, Gatt pleaded not guilty to both charges and was let out on $5,000 bail. He was banned from unsupervised time with minors, possessing pornography, and using social media for anything other than work purposes. According to The Daily Mail, Gatt appeared back in a criminal courtroom in Los Angeles on Monday.

For the moment, Judge Enrique Monguia postponed the hearing after prosecutor Michael Fern said that “additional discovery is needed.” It’s not yet clear if this case will go to trial, if Gatt will take some kind of a deal, or what.
At the moment, he’s denying all the charges. “They are 100% categorically wrong and reckless,” he said on social media shortly after his arrest last year. “I have confirmed errors and misleading information in today’s press release. I am fully cooperating with police and LAPD to get to the bottom of this. I look forward to clearing my good name. Thank you to all my friends and supporters who know that this is untrue and understand for legal reasons I cannot comment further on social media.”
Gatt will be back in court for another hearing on December 4.
