Check out all the beautiful dragon saddles from House of the Dragon
By Dan Selcke
On Game of Thrones, whenever Daenerys Targaryen wanted to take flight on Drogon, she would simply climb up and blast off, no assistance needed. No one taught her how to fly a dragon. No one could; before she hated her babies, no one had seen any dragons for generations.
Things are different on House of the Dragon, which is set over 100 years earlier at the height of the Targaryen dynasty. At this time, pretty much every member of the Targaryen royal family had a dragon, and every dragon has a dragon saddle.
This means that the prop department got to dream up and design several new pieces of hardware, a different one for every dragon. What does Daemon Targaryen sit upon when he rides his dragon Caraxes? How does Rhaenyra Targaryen get comfortable atop Syrax? How do you make a saddle big enough for the monster that is Vhagar?

Syrax probably has the most elaborate saddle, fitting for the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Meanwhile, the saddle for Vhagar is very simple. They’re probably happy they just managed to get it on her without being eaten.
We’ll see more of all of these dragons (well, except poor little Arrax) in season 2 of House of the Dragon, which will premiere on HBO and Max sometime in 2024.
