The Walking Dead is forging ahead with a new crop of spinoffs. Dead City let us see what would happen if Maggie and Negan teamed up on a rescue mission to New York City, and Daryl Dixon checked in on Daryl’s vacation in zombie-infested France. Both of these spinoffs will have second seasons. Season 2 of Daryl Dixon even has a subtitle: The Book of Carol.

Technically, the full title is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2: The Book of Carol, which is so long I’m starting to wonder if I’m being pranked. In any case, it will feature the return of Daryl’s platonic soulmate Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). Check out the first teaser trailer below:

Daryl Dixon picked up with Daryl already in France; we didn’t find out how he’d gotten there until a ways into the series. Carol is back in what remains of the U.S., but there’s no keeping these two apart for long.

Carol was originally going to be part of the first season of Daryl Dixon (in which case the show probably would have had a different title) but it didn’t work out with Melissa McBride’s schedule. Clearly, the producers always wanted to include Carol in this story, though. It’ll just take a bit longer than fans expected.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2: The Book of Carol (whew) will premiere on AMC sometime in 2024. We’ll likely see it after another Walking Dead spinoff about Rick and Michonne, title The Ones Who Live, airs in February of next year.
