Thanks to her breakout role as Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has quickly become a Hollywood superstar, playing the title character in Enola Holmes and featuring in blockbuster movies like Godzilla vs. Kong. After five seasons of Stranger Things, Brown is finally ready to wave goodbye to the series that helped put her on the map.
The 19-year-old actress is undoubtedly thankful for Stranger Things, but she’s also ready to pursue other projects without needing to keep returning to the series. As she puts it, it’s like graduating from school. “When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” she told Glamour. “Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
She will continue to hone the skills that working on Stranger Things as a young actress gifted her with. Brown said that the series has given her “the tools and the resources to be a better actor,” which will be invaluable in her pursuit of other roles.
Despite Stranger Things being pivotal in her life, she’s not going to get too caught up in the emotions when it concludes. “No one is dying,” she added. “When it ends, I’m going to be able to still see these people.”
Will Millie Bobby Brown return for Stranger Things spinoffs?
Millie Bobby Brown has a large slate of exciting projects on the horizon, including a fantasy movie titled Damsel, where she plays the protagonist Princess Elodie. Plus, she will appear alongside Chris Pratt in The Electric State, an upcoming sci-fi epic helmed by acclaimed Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo. And of course, the final season of Stranger Things is back in production.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things doesn’t have a release date yet. A late 2024 or early 2025 premiere seems likely. Once the series comes to an end, creators Matt and Ross Duffer are keen to move on to spinoffs. Needless to say, Millie Bobby Brown won’t be interested in returning anytime soon.
