The internet’s collective thirst to see Daniel Radcliffe take on the role of Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might finally be quenched in Deadpool 3.

For years, Marvel fans have been vocal about their desire to see the former Harry Potter star join the MCU as the iconic X-Men character. There have been fan campaigns, millions of tweets (okay, that might be an exaggeration but there have been a lot), and countless artist’s renderings depicting him in the role.

These pleas from fans have been so loud that Radcliffe has been forced to address the rumors and speculation on a number of occasions. Even his co-stars have urged Marvel to listen to the fans with Radcliffe’s The Lost City co-star Sanda Bullock telling Marvel to “stop tiptoeing around” and “f***ing cast him.”

Well, it seems Marvel has finally taken notice and extended an invite to Radcliffe to join the MCU!

Is Daniel Radcliffe playing Wolverine in Deadpool 3?

At this time, Marvel has not addressed any of the casting rumors connected to Deadpool 3. As such, it has not yet been confirmed whether Daniel Radcliffe has been cast in the role of Wolverine; however, there is a strong chance we could finally get to see Radcliffe suit up as the iconic mutant in the movie.

Insider Daniel Richtman has reported that Radcliffe has been tapped for a mystery role in the upcoming film. While Richtman has not specified who exactly Radcliff will be playing, it has been speculated by many fellow scoopers that the mystery role could be a Wolverine variant.

As fans will recall, after years of fan campaigns asking Marvel to cast John Krasinski in the role of Reed Richards, Marvel cast the actor to play a Mister Fantastic variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This fan service was a clear nod to the fans’ desire to see Krasinski in the role. Marvel plans to cast a new Reed Richards for the mainstream MCU timeline, making Krasinki’s appearance a one-off cameo.

With Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine and rumors suggesting he’ll be sticking around beyond Deadpool 3, it’s possible that Marvel tapped Radcliffe to play a Wolverine variant, another example of a cameo driven by fan service.

We know variants will play a key role in the upcoming movie, so having Radcliffe appear as a Wolverine variant would be a fun way to allow fans to see Radcliffe in the role even if just for a brief time.

What Daniel Radcliffe could look like as Wolverine in Deadpool 3

While it remains to be seen whether Daniel Radcliffe will indeed be suiting up to play a Wolverine variant in Deadpool 3, we don’t have to wait until the film’s release to get an idea of how amazing Radcliffe could look in the role!

Many talented artists have debuted fan art over the years depicting Radcliffe as Wolverine. When rumors first began swirling about Radcliffe playing Wolverine, digital artist BossLogic debuted a stunning piece of concept art that envisions Radcliffe in the role of the iconic X-Men hero:

This is just concept art, but it’s easy to see why fans have been hoping to see Radcliffe in the role. We know he has the acting chops and recent photos showed he definitely has the physique needed to pull off the iconic hero’s look, so let’s hope Marvel has indeed been listening and gives Radcliffe the chance to rock Wolverine’s iconic adamantium claws and signature doo in Deadpool 3!
