2. Game of Thrones season 3

  • Audience Score: 96%
  • Critics Score: 97%

Game of Thrones season 3 finishes runner-up on the list of the best seasons of the series, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Personally, this is my favorite season of the series. It’s definitely the most shocking, especially for those who have not read the book series.

In season 3, the War of the Five Kings continues and largely ends with the Red Wedding, which ends the stories of Robb and Catelyn Stark and wipes out the Stark rule in the North. Jon continues his journey into the wildlings camp North of the Wall and returns to the Wall a wildling (basically) and Daenerys starts conquering cities in Slaver’s Bay. There’s so much to love about the third season.

Again, there are few complaints anyone could raise about season 3. There are obviously some events and things that happen that are unenjoyable, including the Lannister’s continued dominance, Joffrey being Joffrey, the Red Wedding and its fallout, and Theon Greyjoy’s entire storyline from season 3 onward. To me, that’s just personal preference, but it’s maybe why Game of Thrones season 3 isn’t No. 1 on this list of seasons according to Rotten Tomatoes score.
