The second season of House of the Dragon has officially stoped filming, but that doesn’t mean the cast is ready to say goodbye to each other just yet. The other day, a restaurant in the South American country of Ecuador called Central 593 posted a picture on their Instagram of several of the stars hanging out:

"Matt, Olivia, Fabien, Phia in Ecuador!!! byu/oldboeee inHouseOfTheDragon"

In this picture, we have Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Phia Saban (Alicent’s daughter Helaena Targaryen), Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole), and in the back there’s Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), putting his fingers to his eyes to let us know that he’s watching us. Also, just for fun, the woman on Cooke’s left is Millie Brady, who played Æthelflæd in the Netflix series The Last Kingdom. Saban played Æthelflæd’s daughter Aelfwynn on that show.

Cooke’s hair is kind of a miracle. It looks pretty much like Alicent’s hair, which I’d thought was full of extensions but apparently no: it just looks like that. There’s also a picture of Cooke and Saban hanging out in nearby Costa Rica:

As probably the most famous member of the group, Matt Smith has taken plenty of pictures with local fans:

Again, filming has wrapped on House of the Dragon season 2, so the cast are most likely just enjoying some time together, which is nice to see.

Michael Elwyn cast as Lord Staunton of Rook’s Rest in House of the Dragon season 2

That said, we’re still getting news about the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel. According to Redanian Intelligence, 81-year-old Welsh actor Michael Elwyn will play the role of Simon Staunton, the lord of Rook’s Rest.

Rook’s Rest is a castle that lies northeast of King’s Landing. There will be a huge battle there in the second season of House of the Dragon, one that we saw that cast and crew film over a period of weeks.

The second season of House of the Dragon is set to premiere sometime in the summer of 2024. We are ready.
