It’s been almost a month since The Wheel of Time season 2 ended its run on Prime Video, but the good news is already rolling in. This past weekend, the fantasy series wrapped filming for season 3 in the Czech Republic. That’s where the show’s home base, Jordan Studios, is located, as well as where settings like the Two Rivers are filmed.

According to reliable Wheel of Time fansite WoTSeries, a wrap party was held to celebrate the milestone this past Saturday. Actor Priyanka Bose (Alanna) shared photos of the event to her Instagram:

The Wheel of Time season 3 wraps filming in the Czech Republic, including scenes with SPOILER

“We just wrapped Season 3, with this epic cast and crew,” Bose wrote. “There was a room full of people/artists/craftsmen responsible to create this and keep it sustained through the strike and a war. It’s not been easy, for anyone. But man was it a pleasure to celebrate what we did. I’m super proud of us. I may or may not have had some happy tears of joy and deep love.”

In addition to Bose, Taylor Napier (Maksim) and showrunner Rafe Judkins were both on hand. Bose also shared a now-deleted post with more images showing Zoë Robins (Nynaeve), Kae Alexander (Min) Ayoola Smart (Aviendha) at the party, as well as new Wheel of Time actor Isabella Bucceri, who is believed to be playing Faile Bashere. We can only speculate about why Bose pulled those images but put up a new post with others. It’s worth noting that Bucceri’s casting hasn’t been officially announced yet.

Priyanka Bose isn’t the only actor from The Wheel of Time marking the occasion on Instagram. Alexandre Willaume also shared that he had wrapped filming as Thom Merrilin for season 3:

"And that’s a wrap on #thommerrilin for this time. Such a pleasure. Thank you all crew and cast and the ones in between, for another fantastic trip in The Wheel of Time."

When last we saw the gleeman Thom Merrilin, he seemingly sacrificed himself during the show’s first season to buy time for Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Mat Cauthon (then played by Barney Harris) to escape from a Myrddraal. Thom sat out season 2, but he’ll be back for season 3!

The Wheel of Time has finished a lot of filming, but there’s still more to go

According to WoTSeries, it’s likely that the filming which took place in and around the Czech Republic covered locations like The White Tower and the Two Rivers, and possibly new settings such as Caemlyn and Tanchico. That said, it’s worth noting that Judkins described Tanchico as “tropical” at New York Comic Con earlier this month, so we’re not ruling out the possibility of on-location filming elsewhere to round out the rest of the Tanchico storyline.

From here, The Wheel of Time will move on to filming in South Africa to finish out the shoot. The running theory is that South Africa will stand in for the Aiel Waste, which we’ll be seeing a lot of in season 3. Given that certain actors who will be central to that plotline were conspicuously absent from the wrap party in Prague, it’s looking more and more likely that that is the case.

The Wheel of Time season 2 is currently streaming on Prime Video. We’ll share more news for season 3 as it breaks!
