The second season of Invincible is almost here! Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book of the same name, Invincible is probably the best superhero show out there, with the possible exception of The Boys, another series on Amazon Prime Video. It’s about a young man named Mark Grayson, the son of the world’s greatest superhero, Omni-Man. When Mark discovers that he also has powers, he sets out on his career as a superhero, and soon discovers that it’s a lot more complicated than he imagined.

The first season was great, at once an earnest celebration of all things superheroes while doing things fans of the genre hadn’t really seen before. The second season promises to do more of the same.

So far, critics are loving it. As of this writing, Invincible season 2 has a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Check out some samples from reviews below:

  • Inverse: “As superhero fatigue becomes more pervasive, Invincible returns, and it’s as thoughtful, gory, and hilarious as ever.”
  • JoBlo’s Movie Network: “Invincible is definitely not for the squeamish, but if you like your comic book adaptations to be chock full of no-holds-barred action, hilarious comedy, and some of the best character development in the genre, Invincible is for you.”
  • Looper: “Season 2 continues the story of Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) with the uncompromising boldness it started with and takes the series to new heights, expanding its universe without dropping the focus on the razor-sharp character drama.”

So far so good!

Invincible season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, November 3. We’re getting a batch of four episodes to start, one per week. After that, the series will take a break for a while before returning for another four episodes in 2024. Ideally, all eight episodes would air in a row, but the writers and actors strikes in Hollywood threw things off a bit.
